Aloha Seahorse parents and families!
            We hope you all had a great October! We’d like to begin by thanking everyone for your support during the Zippy’s Chili Sale and our field trip to the Pumpkin Patch. Mahalo to Aunties Kawe, Maile, Tania and Jackie, along with Uncles Rory and Nahuel. Once again, you have helped to keep our keiki safe and provide manpower to carry all of the large pumpkins our children picked out.
           Some of the fun activities the children participated in during October were:


ART
  Colored paper collage
    Zippy sponge painting
    Pumpkin patch prints
    Natural plant collage

COOKING
    Cinnamon toast
    Pancakes
    Pumpkin carving
    Easy pumpkin pudding
    Pumpkin crunch dessert
    Veggie sampling
      
PHYSICAL (LARGE AND SMALL MOTOR):
    Hula hoops
    Tumbling on tumble mats
    Music and movement
    Bean bag toss
    Sand box play
    Sorting
    Loop cereal lacing 

  
            Now that the children are more familiar with their friends and routines, we will begin to incorporate a little more academics into our daily play. The children will continue to learn new music, and whenever possible, lyrics will be sent home so that you may learn them and sing along with your children. 
           
This month, our planned activities include:


ART:
    Leaf rubbings and printing
    Stamping with lotus root
    Corn on the cob roller painting
    Paint cups
    Making a American Indian headband and Pilgrim hat
    Easel painting
COOKING:
    Preparing asparagus and broccoli
    Husking and cooking corn on the cob
    Munch a crunch salad
    Pilgrim punch

PHYSICAL (LARGE AND SMALL MOTOR):
    Golf putting
    Going on a duck hunt
    Mesh and bouncing balls
    Running relays
                Planting vegetable seeds
             

          Finally, please note the following dates to remember:
Wed., November 11th – School is closed in observance of Veteran’s  Day. 
Thurs., November 19th -- Visit from the Honolulu Fire Department to teach fire safety.
Thurs.-Fri., November 26th and 27th – School is closed in observance of Thanksgiving.
