July 2008

Aloha to All of Our Calvary ‘Ohana!
            Seems like June and the spring season just sprung by us in a flash! It was an exciting month as we celebrated fun in the sun with our studies based on the sand and sea.  After all, we are blessed to be surrounded by an ocean full of wonderful creatures. We enjoyed several hands on activities.

Art projects included:
                    * Tissue paper rainbow fish
                    * Textured seahorses and sea urchins
                    * Gyotaku, traditional Japanese fish printing

We also enjoyed the outdoors with:
                    * Sand and water tables
                    * Blowing bubbles from our own bubble pipes
                    * Hopscotch and sidewalk drawing with chalk
                    * Running relays
                    * Water play
                    * A "Trike Rodeo"
            Our tasty creations were:
                    * Fruit smoothies
                    * Jello aquariums
            To welcome the summer season, we went on a field trip to
Kailua Beach Park. What fun that was for our keiki, staff and ‘ohana alike!  Thank you to all who joined us to make it a safe fun filled day!

This month, we are looking forward to having more fun indoors and out as we also prepare our keiki for the coming school year.  To wrap this school year up, we will have a Keiki Fun Day on Wednesday, July 23rd.  We will begin with a short program of song and dance to showcase what the children have been learning in class. The performance will be followed by games, prizes and water play.  All ohana are invited to join us! It will be a celebration of friendship as some of our children will be moving on to other schools.

Finally, we will be closed from July 28th through to August 1st to prepare our school for the new school year which starts on August 4th when we reopen our doors.

Once again, mahalo nui loa to all of our ‘ohana for your support throughout the school year!
